The Ninth Guest (1934) - Public Domain? |
I see this was recently uploaded, not trying to cause any problems but can somebody tell me why this is PD? I have researched it myself and cannot seem to find the reason, maybe I missed something?
I MEAN HOW COULD IT POSSIBLY BE PD, ALPHA DOESN'T EVEN HAVE IT OUT FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!?? (that was sarcasm)

Lets follow the bouncing ball, so to speak.
The opening credits show the film in notice in 1933.
Per IMDB the film was released 31Jan34.
Per USCO it was registered 6Feb34.
So far so good, but here is the gotcha.
Note the renewal date below. For the renewal to be valid, it had to have been done sometime in 1961. From whatever date in 1933, they had 28 years, to the end of 1961 to make the renewal. The renewal shown is approx 30 days late.

I did not know the copyright on the film was 1933. The IMDB also isn't gospel about release dates (especially older dates), so you have a point.
I withdraw my claim it should be taken down.
